"NIMROD WAS A GREAT HUNTER!!!" John said over and over one day after Superock practice. "If you ever remember anything you'll remember that Nimrod was a great hunter." He went on about this for a good 5 minutes explaining his point. I don't remember the details of exactly WHY Nimrod was a great hunter, but he's right, I'll probably always remember this for the rest of my life. What a good guy, business minded, and professional. We would constantly have conversations on why Battlestar Galactica was the greatest show on TV, and talk about the previous episodes, and our theories on where the show was going next. I lost touch with him when he left the band, but I enjoyed having him around while it lasted. The last show Superock did, (a reunion type show) I tried fighting for him to be able to play with us to make it a true reunion show, but time and logistics were against us and it didn't happen. I wish I would have brought it up earlier in the planning stages, what a missed opportunity. :( His philosophy on drumming was as brilliant as it was simple. "Boom/tap pays the bills." Yes. This.

John always took time when at my home for practice to chat with me.  He was just such a nice young man, I enjoyed these little visits so much, he'll never be replaced.  So honored to have known  him.
Memories of Kohn

John Kohn was a very good guy. He was in my team while we were in the unit. He was very intelligent so I listened to his input and his suggestions. We had good times. We joked each other about him being a squid and me being a jarhead. We went to McDonald's for lunch during Battle Assemblies. Preparing for deployment his iPhone was the alarm for our room. It was like a boat coming through. He brought with him a lot of books. We ended up talking about Honey Badgers, which became our mascot in Iraq. He was always up to play chess with anyone who knows how to play. John loved to play with young Isaac Anderson. He loved messing with him because Isaac showed his frustration on his face. While on deployment John Kohn was placed on the night shift. I heard he was a slave driver, but he took that in stride. He always had something funny to say and we had a good time. I was placed in the Division building, so I didn't get to see him as much. When we did see each other we had a good laugh. My memories of Kohn were of good clean fun. Of course talking about loved ones especially his wife. We had laughs and "good food."
